PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Interstat) ā A pair of teams looking to build momentum before the heart of Big East play will meet Sunday when the Georgetown Hoyas visit the Providence Friars in a womenās basketball matchup at Dunkinā Center. Georgetown (7-3) enters on a two-game winning streak, most recently a 60-46 home victory over Delaware State on Dec. 13. The Hoyas have been strong defensively, holding opponents under 60 points in six of their seven wins. Guard Khia Miller is coming off a season-high 15-point performance in that game, adding three assists and a block in 34 minutes. Miller has been a key contributor, scoring in double figures in two of her last four appearances. Providence (7-5) snapped a three-game skid with a 63-51 win over Stonehill on Dec. 13. The Friars have struggled offensively during their losses, failing to reach 60 points in any of their five defeats. Guard Riley Hamburger provided a spark off the bench against Stonehill, logging 25 minutes and scoring 10 points, her first double-figure outing of the season. Her role could expand if she can build on that performance. The Hoyas boast a more efficient offense, averaging 71.2 points per game compared to Providenceās 59.8. Georgetownās early schedule has featured a mix of power conference opponents and regional rivals, including a narrow loss to Villanova and an overtime defeat at George Mason. Providenceās record reflects a challenging stretch, with recent losses to Rhode Island, Saint Johnās and Xavier. The Friars will need to find consistent scoring beyond Ashley Dinges, who leads the team with 13 points per game. This contest opens a critical period for both squads before conference play intensifies in January. Georgetown will look to its defense and Millerās versatility to secure a road win, while Providence aims to protect its home court and establish a more reliable offensive rhythm. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Sunday, Dec. 21.
