STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The surging Washington Huskies will put their 9-1 record on the line Sunday when they visit the Pacific Tigers at the A.C. Spanos Center. Washington, coming off a 79-74 home win over Green Bay on Dec. 13, has won nine of its first 10 games. Its lone loss came on the road against Southern California, 59-50, on Dec. 7. The Huskies have been dominant at home, winning all seven contests in Seattle by an average margin of 27.7 points. Pacific (5-5) enters on a two-game winning streak, including a 116-49 rout of Simpson on Friday. The Tigers are 4-1 at home this season, with the sole loss a 68-56 defeat to Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 23. The game features a marquee individual matchup at guard. Washington sophomore Sayvia Sellers is averaging 19.9 points per game and has been on a scoring tear. She dropped 30 points in the win over Green Bay and has scored 20 or more in four of her last six outings. Pacific will counter with guard Luisa Anderegg, who is coming off a season-high 20-point performance in just 19 minutes against Simpson. Her playing time and production have fluctuated, but she provides a scoring spark off the bench for the Tigers. Washington’s balance has been key. In the Green Bay win, forward Avery Howell recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while center Yulia Grabovskaia added 10 points, six rebounds and six assists. Pacific’s backcourt depth was on display against Simpson, as Nyah Lowery scored 18 points and Sydney Ward dished out seven assists. This is the final nonconference tune-up for both teams before league play begins. Washington opens its Big Ten schedule on Jan. 1 against Michigan. Pacific begins West Coast Conference play on Jan. 2 at Oregon State. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon. Washington holds a 6-2 all-time series lead over Pacific, though the teams have not met since 2011.
