Preview: California Baptist Faces Undefeated Nebraska in Nonconference Finale LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) — The unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Nebraska women’s basketball team concludes its nonconference schedule Sunday when it hosts California Baptist at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Cornhuskers (11-0) have dominated their early slate, winning by an average margin of 32.5 points. Their most recent victory was an 85-44 rout of Illinois State on Dec. 14. Nebraska’s high-powered offense, averaging 87.5 points per game, is led by sophomore guard Britt Prince. She is coming off a 13-point, 6-assist performance and has scored in double figures in every game this season, including a 30-point outing at Virginia. California Baptist (6-6) enters on a five-game losing streak, including a 76-71 defeat at Denver on Friday. The Lancers have struggled offensively during the skid, failing to reach 70 points in four of those losses. A key matchup will feature California Baptist’s Emma Johansson against Nebraska’s interior defense. Johansson, a forward, has been a consistent performer, averaging 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds over her last seven games. She posted 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the loss to Denver. Nebraska’s defense, allowing just 55.5 points per game, will look to contain her and force turnovers against a Lancers team entering a formidable road environment. This game marks the first-ever meeting between the programs. For Nebraska, this serves as a final tune-up before opening Big Ten Conference play at Iowa on Jan. 1. California Baptist begins Western Athletic Conference play on Dec. 29 against Utah Valley. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CST Sunday. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
