Undefeated LSU Hosts Texas-Arlington in Nonconference Finale BATON ROUGE, La. (Interstat) — The undefeated and top-ranked LSU women’s basketball team concludes its nonconference schedule Sunday when it hosts the Texas-Arlington Mavericks at the Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers (11-0), who have dominated their early slate, face a Mavericks squad (6-5) looking to build momentum before Western Athletic Conference play. LSU has won each of its 11 games by an average margin of 56.5 points, with its closest contest a 93-77 victory at Duke on Dec. 4. LSU’s depth and firepower have been overwhelming. Guard MiLaysia Fulwiley has been a catalyst, averaging 13.8 points and 4.8 assists over her last five games. In Tuesday’s 91-33 rout of Morgan State, Fulwiley posted 11 points, five rebounds and four assists in just 19 minutes. She is one of five Tigers averaging double-figure scoring this season. Texas-Arlington arrives after an 81-73 home win over Texas Southern on Wednesday. The Mavericks are led by guard Mila Reynolds, who scored 16 points in that victory and is averaging 15.7 points over her last three games. Support comes from Kali Haizlip, who had a team-high 17 points against Texas Southern. The Mavericks have shown resilience, with a notable 61-60 road win at Texas A&M last month, but have struggled against high-major opponents, falling by double digits at Colorado, Rice and Houston. This marks the first meeting between the programs. Following this game, LSU opens Southeastern Conference play at home against Kentucky on Jan. 1. Texas-Arlington travels to face Tarleton State on Dec. 29 to begin WAC competition. Sunday’s tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CST at the Maravich Assembly Center.
