AMES, Iowa (Interstat) ā The unbeaten Iowa State womenās basketball team will face its toughest Big 12 test to date when the 12-0 Cyclones host the 10-2 Kansas Jayhawks at Hilton Coliseum on Sunday. Iowa State, one of the nationās remaining undefeated teams, has powered through nonconference play with a high-octane offense, scoring 100 or more points in three games. Sophomore standout Addy Brown has been the engine, averaging a near triple-double over her last five contests. She is coming off a 28-point performance in a win over Northern Iowa on Dec. 14. Kansas arrives with momentum, winning four straight since a narrow one-point road loss to Dayton on Nov. 29. The Jayhawks are led by guard Brittany Harshaw, who erupted for 26 points in just 18 minutes in a 107-39 rout of Haskell on Wednesday. Her scoring punch will be vital against a deep Cyclones rotation. The matchup pits Iowa Stateās perfect record against a Kansas team seeking a signature road win to open conference play. The Cyclonesā resume includes a 74-69 victory over in-state rival Iowa and a 106-95 shootout win at Indiana. Kansasās two losses came by a combined seven points on the road against Dayton and Georgia. Hilton Coliseum has long been a fortress for Iowa State, and the Jayhawks will need to overcome that environment to hand the Cyclones their first loss. The game will be a critical early indicator in the Big 12 race, as both teams look to establish conference supremacy.
