GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Florida Gators, riding high with one of the nation’s top records, will look to continue their strong non-conference play when they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the O’Connell Center on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025. The No. 10-ranked Gators (11-2) have won four straight since their only loss in the last six weeks, a narrow 68-64 defeat at then-Virginia Tech on Dec. 4. They are coming off a 76-51 victory over Florida A&M on Wednesday, powered by a 29-point performance from star guard Liv McGill. McGill has been on a historic tear, averaging 26.2 points over her last five games. She dropped 32 against South Alabama on Dec. 7 and 30 in the loss to Virginia Tech, establishing herself as one of the most dynamic scorers in the SEC. Tulsa (7-4) arrives after a 67-43 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday, which snapped a two-game skid. The Golden Hurricane have faced a challenging stretch, including road losses to Oklahoma State (90-58) and Creighton (73-60) earlier this month. Guard Jade Clack led the way against Pine Bluff with 16 points and has been a consistent contributor, averaging 10.1 points per game in her last seven outings. This matchup presents a stark contrast in trajectories. Florida has built its record with a high-powered offense and a signature win over Florida State (89-67), while Tulsa has struggled against power conference opponents, going 0-3 against teams from the Big 12 and Big East. The game serves as a final tune-up for both teams before holiday breaks and the start of conference play. Florida will open its SEC slate at Tennessee on Jan. 1, while Tulsa begins American Athletic Conference action at home against Wichita State on Dec. 30. For Tulsa to pull the upset, they must contain McGill and find scoring beyond Clack, with Mady Cartwright (14 points vs. Pine Bluff) as a potential key. Florida will aim to leverage its size and athleticism to overwhelm the Golden Hurricane early and avoid a letdown before its showdown with Furman on Dec. 28. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST Sunday at the O’Dome.
