Preview: Detroit Titans vs. Delaware State Hornets (Women’s Basketball) NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet in a non-conference matchup Sunday when the Detroit Titans face the Delaware State Hornets in the 2025-26 Tulane Holiday Tournament. The Titans (3-7) and Hornets (3-10) enter with identical three-game losing streaks. Detroit fell 64-55 to Mercer on Saturday, while Delaware State dropped a 76-44 decision to tournament host Tulane the same day. Detroit will lean on forward Jasmine Edwards, who is coming off a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes against Mercer. Edwards has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in three of her last five games. Support comes from guard Aaliyah McQueen, who also scored 13 points with eight rebounds and five assists in the loss to Mercer. For Delaware State, guard Nevaeh Reaves provided a bright spot in the loss to Tulane, erupting for a season-high 18 points in just 21 minutes off the bench. Her scoring punch will be vital for a Hornets team that has struggled offensively, failing to reach 50 points in four of its last five games. Both teams have faced challenging early schedules. Detroit’s losses include a 102-53 defeat to Michigan, while Delaware State has faced power conference foes Georgetown, Maryland and UCF during its skid. This neutral-site game at Tulane’s arena represents a chance for either program to gain a positive result before the bulk of conference play begins next month. Detroit will open Horizon League action Jan. 2, while Delaware State starts Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play Jan. 3. The Titans hold a slight edge in recent performance, having played competitively in several losses and securing wins over IU Indy and Cleveland State this month. The Hornets will need to replicate Reaves’ offensive burst and find secondary scoring to challenge Detroit. Tipoff is set for Sunday, Dec. 21, in New Orleans.
