GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — The Clemson women’s basketball team looks to carry momentum into its holiday break when it hosts North Florida on Sunday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Lady Tigers (8-4) enter the nonconference finale on a three-game winning streak, most recently routing Charleston Southern 78-52 on Wednesday. Forward Demeara Hinds led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds, continuing a stretch of strong play. Over her last five games, Hinds is averaging 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds, providing a consistent interior presence for Clemson. Clemson’s defense has been stifling during its streak, holding opponents to an average of 50.7 points per game. The Lady Tigers will aim to contain a North Florida squad coming off its best offensive performance of the season. The Ospreys (5-5) are riding high after a 96-82 home victory over Coastal Georgia on Tuesday, snapping a two-game skid. The outburst was fueled by guard Dezuray McGill, who exploded for a career-high 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including 6 of 9 from 3-point range, in just 25 minutes. McGill has been a dynamic scorer for North Florida, averaging 14.2 points per game and reaching double figures in five of her last six contests. North Florida has struggled on the road this season, however, going 1-4 away from home with losses by 26 points at Georgia Southern and 46 at Georgia. The Ospreys will need another efficient outing from McGill and support from players like Elle Blatchford (13 points vs. Coastal Georgia) to challenge a deeper Clemson roster. This marks the first-ever meeting between the programs. Following this game, Clemson begins Atlantic Coast Conference play at Virginia on Jan. 1. North Florida opens its Atlantic Sun Conference schedule at home against Lipscomb on the same date. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. EST.
