Liberty, Oregon State Set for Maui Showdown MAKAWAO, Hawaii (Interstat) — The Liberty Lady Flames and Oregon State Beavers will look to capitalize on a Hawaiian trip to build momentum as they meet in the 2025-26 WBB Maui Classic on Saturday. Liberty (6-3) enters the neutral-site contest looking to rebound from a 76-61 home loss to Richmond on Dec. 13. The Lady Flames had won four straight prior to that defeat. Oregon State (6-5) seeks to end a two-game skid, most recently a 55-53 overtime heartbreaker to Arizona State on Dec. 14. The matchup features a compelling battle in the frontcourt. Liberty will rely on forward Ify Nwaobi, who is coming off a dominant 16-point, 13-rebound performance against Richmond. Over her last five games, Nwaobi has averaged 9.2 points and 10.2 rebounds, providing a consistent interior presence. Oregon State counters with guard Jenna Villa, who has been a primary scoring option. Villa poured in 27 points in a loss at Oregon on Dec. 3 and followed with 18 points in 39 minutes against Arizona State. She has averaged 16.3 points over her last five outings. Liberty’s season has been marked by strong defense, holding opponents under 60 points in five of their six wins. Oregon State has faced a tougher schedule, with four of its five losses coming against Power Five opponents, including Oregon, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt. This game serves as a final non-conference test for both programs before league play resumes in January. Liberty will open Conference USA action on Jan. 2 at New Mexico State. Oregon State begins West Coast Conference play on Dec. 28 at San Francisco. Tipoff is set for Saturday at the Maui Classic venue. The game will not be televised nationally.
