Preview: Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Massachusetts Minutewomen MIAMI (Interstat) — The Massachusetts Minutewomen, boasting one of the nation’s top early-season records, will look to rebound from their first loss when they face the Florida Atlantic Owls in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday at FIU Baseball Stadium. Massachusetts (7-1) saw its seven-game winning streak snapped in a 64-61 road loss at Army on Dec. 6. The Minutewomen have been dominant otherwise, winning their other games by an average of 18.9 points. They are led by guard Megan Olbrys, who is averaging 18.6 points and 7.5 rebounds over her last four contests. She posted a 24-point, 12-rebound double-double in a win over Boston College on Nov. 22. Florida Atlantic (5-5) enters seeking consistency after alternating wins and losses over its past six games. The Owls are coming off an 80-63 home defeat to Florida International on Monday. Guard Vivian Onugha has been a bright spot, scoring 18 points in that loss and averaging 13.1 points over her last seven games. The game presents a stark contrast in momentum. Massachusetts’s only blemish is a narrow road loss, while the Owls have struggled to stack victories, with their last winning streak being a two-game span in late November. This contest is part of a multi-team event in Miami. Massachusetts will remain in the city to face Youngstown State on Saturday, while Florida Atlantic has a quick turnaround against Florida International, also on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.
