Preview: Northeastern Huskies at Boston College Eagles NEWTON, Mass. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum before conference play begins will meet Friday when the Northeastern Huskies visit the Boston College Eagles in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at Silvio O. Conte Forum. Both sides enter the contest on losing streaks. The visiting Huskies (3-6) have dropped three straight, most recently a 71-52 home loss to Massachusetts on Dec. 3. In that game, Nariyah Simmons, Camryn Collins and Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki each scored 12 points for a Northeastern offense that has struggled with consistency this season. The host Eagles (4-9) have lost five consecutive games. Their most recent outing was a 80-71 home loss to Bryant on Dec. 9. Boston College has faced defensive challenges during its skid, allowing an average of 78.2 points per game in those five losses. A player to watch for Boston College is guard Lily Carmody. She is coming off a season-high 15-point performance against Bryant and has been a steady contributor, averaging 9.9 points over her last seven games. Her backcourt play will be crucial against a Northeastern team that forces an average of nearly 18 turnovers per game. This game represents a final opportunity for both programs to fine-tune before their respective conference schedules intensify in the new year. Northeastern, a member of the Coastal Athletic Association, will open its league slate on Jan. 2 at UNC Wilmington. Boston College, which plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference, faces a daunting league opener against North Carolina on Dec. 29. Historically, Boston College has dominated the series, holding a 22-3 all-time advantage over Northeastern. The Eagles have won the last 15 meetings between the schools, with the Huskies’ last victory coming in 1989. Friday’s game will tip off at 7 p.m. EST. For Northeastern, the focus will be on generating more offensive production after being held under 60 points in four of their six losses. For Boston College, finding a way to shore up its defense will be the priority to snap its current slide before ACC competition arrives.
