Preview: Struggling Morgan State Faces UCF in Nonconference Finale OVIEDO, Fla. (Interstat) — The UCF Knights look to continue their strong nonconference play when they host the struggling Morgan State Bears in a women’s basketball matchup Sunday at CFE Arena. UCF (7-3) enters the contest having won six of its last eight games, including a 74-46 rout of Delaware State on Dec. 7. The Knights have been effective at home, boasting a 5-1 record in Oviedo. Morgan State (1-10) seeks to halt a nine-game losing streak. The Bears’ lone win came against Washington Adventist on Nov. 12, and they are coming off a 66-48 home loss to Maryland-Baltimore County on Dec. 6. A key matchup will feature the teams’ standout guards. UCF’s Summer Yancy provides steady all-around play, averaging 7.2 points and 3.4 assists over her last seven games. She scored 10 points in the win over Delaware State. Morgan State will rely on Michaela Bogans, who is coming off her best performance of the season. Bogans logged 27 minutes and finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists in the loss to UMBC. Consistency has been an issue, however, as she was held to four points or fewer in the five games preceding that outing. The Knights have dominated defensively in their victories, holding opponents to an average of 53.2 points in their seven wins. Morgan State has struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in any game this season and being held under 50 points five times. This game marks the final nonconference tune-up for UCF before it opens Big 12 play later this month. Morgan State concludes a brutal stretch of road games; this is its eighth away contest of the season. Following this game, UCF will host BYU on Dec. 20. Morgan State continues its road swing at LSU on Dec. 16. Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
