Preview: New Orleans Privateers at Tulane Green Wave NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — Two New Orleans-based programs heading in different directions will meet Sunday when the Tulane Green Wave host the winless New Orleans Privateers in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Devlin Fieldhouse. The Privateers (0-8) enter still searching for their first victory of the 2025-26 season. They are coming off a 126-62 home loss to LSU on Dec. 7, a game in which Shanihya Brown led the team with 14 points. Brown, a guard, has been a bright spot, averaging 12.5 points over her last four contests, including a 20-point performance against Jacksonville State on Nov. 22. The team’s struggles are pronounced, having lost each game by an average margin of 24.5 points, with only one defeat coming by single digits. Tulane (3-5) has faced a challenging schedule of its own but has managed to secure three wins, including a tight 64-61 victory over Elon on Nov. 27. The Green Wave are looking to snap a two-game skid after falling 72-66 to Missouri State at home on Dec. 4. In that contest, guard Amira Mabry paced the team with 14 points. Mabry has been a consistent scorer, reaching double figures in three of her last five outings. While this is a crosstown matchup, it represents a critical opportunity for both teams. For New Orleans, it is a chance to reset and find a winning formula against a familiar foe before a 10-day break. For Tulane, it is a final tune-up before a daunting road trip to Alabama on Wednesday. The Green Wave will be heavily favored at home, where they are 2-2 this season. The Privateers’ defense, allowing 88.1 points per game, will be tested by a Tulane offense averaging 71.1 points. Containing Mabry and backcourt mate CC Mays, who dished seven assists against Missouri State, will be a primary focus for New Orleans. Tip-off is set for Sunday afternoon. Following this game, Tulane begins a stretch of four road games in its next five, while New Orleans opens a three-game homestand on Dec. 18 against Incarnate Word.
