WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Purdue women’s basketball team looks to build on a dominant win and continue its home-court advantage when it hosts Dayton on Sunday at Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers (6-4) are coming off an 88-45 rout of Lipscomb on Thursday, where Tara Daye posted 18 points and 11 rebounds. Daye has been a consistent force, recording double-doubles in two of her last four games. Purdue is 5-1 at home this season, with the lone loss a 104-56 defeat to a powerful Michigan team. Dayton (5-4) arrives after an 81-72 victory over Long Island last Sunday, snapping a two-game skid. The Flyers are led by guard Nayo Lear, who is coming off a stellar performance with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists in that win. Lear averages 15.6 points per game and has scored in double figures in six of nine contests, though she was held to just one assist in a 54-42 loss at George Washington on Dec. 3. Both teams have shown volatility. Purdue’s four losses have come by an average of 30.5 points, but its six wins have been by an average margin of 30.8. Dayton has struggled offensively at times, failing to reach 70 points in five games, but has proven capable with wins over Kansas and a high-scoring output against Long Island. The game represents a final non-conference test for Purdue before a Dec. 28 Big Ten opener against Illinois. Dayton wraps up a three-game road swing before hosting Evansville on Dec. 21. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon. Purdue holds a 3-1 all-time series lead, with the last meeting a 74-62 Boilermaker victory in 2017.
