Arizona State Women Set for Road Test at Oregon State CORVALLIS, Ore. (Interstat) — The undefeated and 11th-ranked Arizona State Sun Devils put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they visit the Oregon State Beavers in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at Gill Coliseum. Arizona State (11-0) is one of 12 remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I, coming off a 74-60 road victory at Penn State on Tuesday. The Sun Devils have won their games by an average margin of 16.5 points, though they have faced recent tests, including a 56-53 win over UNLV on Nov. 22 and an 82-77 victory at Santa Clara on Nov. 16. The Sun Devils are led by guard Gabby Elliott, who is averaging 16.6 points per game. She is coming off a season-high 27-point performance in 36 minutes against Penn State. In a November win at Santa Clara, Elliott posted a dominant 20-point, 16-rebound, 5-assist stat line. Oregon State (6-4) seeks a resume-boosting win after a mixed start to the season. The Beavers have dropped four of their last seven, including a 96-73 loss at rival Oregon on Dec. 3, but are coming off a 69-53 home win over Alaska Anchorage last Sunday. Guard Tiara Bolden paces the Beavers’ offense, averaging 14.3 points per game. She scored 23 points in the win over Alaska Anchorage and had another 23-point outing in a victory over Utah State on Nov. 18. The Sun Devils have relied on a balanced attack behind Elliott. Against Penn State, McKinna Brackens added 15 points and Amaya Williams scored 12. Arizona State’s defense has been a cornerstone, holding opponents to an average of 54.5 points and 34.8% shooting from the field. Oregon State will need a strong defensive effort to slow Arizona State’s momentum. The Beavers have allowed an average of 69.2 points in their four losses this season. This game marks the final tune-up for both teams before holiday tournaments. Arizona State travels to face Gonzaga on Tuesday, while Oregon State hosts Montana State in Hawaii on Dec. 19. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. PST Sunday.
