Undefeated Nebraska Hosts Illinois State in Nonconference Finale LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) — The undefeated and No. 1-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they host the Illinois State Redbirds in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Nebraska (10-0) has dominated its early schedule, winning by an average margin of 34.2 points. The Cornhuskers are coming off an 87-35 rout of Omaha on Tuesday, where their high-powered offense scored at least 80 points for the seventh time this season. A key catalyst has been guard Callin Hake, who is averaging 11.3 points and 5.3 assists over her last three games. She posted 17 points and six assists against Omaha. Nebraska’s balanced attack also features consistent contributions from Britt Prince and Jessica Petrie. Illinois State (5-5) seeks a statement road win to level its record before Missouri Valley Conference play. The Redbirds snapped a four-game skid with a 64-46 home victory over Eastern Illinois on Dec. 7. In that win, guard Jaeden Pratt broke out with 15 points in 20 minutes after a quiet stretch. Her production will be vital against Nebraska’s relentless defense. The Redbirds have shown resilience, with three of their five losses coming by single digits, including an overtime defeat at Rice. This game concludes the nonconference slate for both teams. Nebraska will then host California Baptist on Dec. 21 before opening a daunting Big Ten schedule. Illinois State returns home to face Oakland on Dec. 19. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CST Sunday. The Cornhuskers have won all three prior meetings between the programs, most recently a 75-47 victory in 2013.
