MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Marquette women’s basketball team looks to continue its winning momentum when it hosts struggling Le Moyne in a nonconference matchup Sunday at Bradley Center. The Golden Eagles (6-3) enter on a two-game win streak following decisive victories over DePaul (85-54) and Butler (80-55). They are led by standout guard Skylar Forbes, who is coming off a dominant 26-point, 8-rebound, 6-assist performance against Butler. Over her last four games, Forbes is averaging 20.5 points, showcasing her role as Marquette’s primary offensive engine. Le Moyne (1-7) seeks to halt a six-game skid. The Dolphins’ lone win came in overtime at Lafayette on Nov. 9. They are coming off a 57-66 home loss to Saint Bonaventure on Dec. 6, a game in which they were led by Jessica Wangolo’s 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Wangolo has been a consistent contributor, averaging 5.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game this season. The matchup presents a stark contrast in trajectories. Marquette’s three losses have come against strong competition: Gonzaga, Iowa State and Minnesota. The Golden Eagles have excelled defensively in their wins, holding four opponents under 60 points. Conversely, Le Moyne has faced offensive struggles, failing to reach 60 points in six of its eight games and suffering lopsided road losses at Illinois (28-100) and Baylor (43-99). Containing Forbes and Marquette’s balanced attack, which saw Halle Vice (13 points, 9 rebounds) and Olivia Porter (11 points) also contribute significantly against Butler, will be the Dolphins’ foremost challenge. This game serves as a final tune-up for Marquette before a pivotal Big East road test at Connecticut on Dec. 17. For Le Moyne, it is another opportunity to find consistency before a stretch of games against mid-major opponents begins next week. Tip-off is set for Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.
