TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The College of Charleston Cougars, riding a strong start to the season, will visit the struggling Florida State Seminoles in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Cougars (6-2) enter with a winning record built on a potent offense, averaging over 72 points per game. Their momentum was checked, however, in a 47-66 road loss at Colorado on Dec. 2. Charleston will look to rebound behind standout guard Taryn Barbot, who has been a consistent force. She scored 22 points in 40 minutes against Colorado and is coming off a 26-point, 11-rebound performance in a loss to High Point on Nov. 29. Over her last five games, Barbot is averaging 18.6 points. Florida State (4-7) seeks to halt a four-game skid, most recently a 58-93 defeat to Notre Dame on Dec. 7. The Seminoles have faced a rigorous early schedule, with five of their seven losses coming against Power Five opponents. Guard Emma Risch has been a bright spot, leading the team with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in the loss to the Fighting Irish. Her season high of 16 points came in a shootout at Oklahoma on Nov. 30. The game presents a contrast in trajectories. Charleston’s losses are by a combined 30 points, while Florida State’s seven defeats have come by an average margin of over 18 points. The Cougars’ defense, which held three opponents under 45 points earlier this season, will test a Seminoles squad averaging 71.5 points but allowing 80.5 per game. For Charleston, this is a final tune-up before traveling to a tournament in Puerto Rico. For Florida State, it is a critical opportunity to build confidence before opening Atlantic Coast Conference play at home against Virginia Tech on Dec. 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
