RICHMOND, Ky. (Interstat) — Two of the region’s hottest women’s basketball teams will meet Sunday when the Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonels host the Marshall Thundering Herd at McBrayer Arena. The nonconference matchup features Marshall (8-3) riding a three-game winning streak and Eastern Kentucky (7-2) coming off a narrow road loss to a power-conference opponent. Tipoff is set for Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025. The Thundering Herd have found their rhythm offensively, averaging 83.3 points during their current streak, which includes a 105-40 rout of Davis & Elkins on Thursday. Guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey has been central to that surge, averaging 17.7 points and 4.3 assists over the last three contests. In the win over Davis & Elkins, she scored 18 points in just 22 minutes. Eastern Kentucky is looking to bounce back from a hard-fought 87-83 defeat at Arizona on Wednesday. The Lady Colonels led by nine in the third quarter against the Wildcats, showcasing their competitive mettle. Guard Althea Kara Angeles was instrumental in that effort, playing all 40 minutes and finishing with 20 points, five assists and two blocks. Angeles has been a workhorse, averaging 37.3 minutes over her last three games. The game presents a contrast in momentum. Marshall has won five of its last six, with the only loss in that span a 66-56 setback at Morehead State on Nov. 30. Notably, Eastern Kentucky defeated that same Morehead State team, 73-60, on the road three days prior. Defense will be a key factor. Marshall has held opponents to 53 points or fewer in five of its eight wins this season. Eastern Kentucky’s offense, which put up 107 points against Midway and 87 against Arizona, will test that stinginess. This marks the final tune-up for both teams before challenging road games next week. Marshall visits Appalachian State on Wednesday, while Eastern Kentucky travels to face Louisville. The matchup promises a compelling battle between Marshall’s balanced, high-scoring attack and an Eastern Kentucky squad proven capable of competing with high-level competition.
