Michigan State Looks to Rebound Against Struggling DePaul ROSEMONT, Ill. (Interstat) — The Michigan State women’s basketball team aims to bounce back from its first loss when it visits DePaul on Sunday at Allstate Arena. The Spartans (8-1) saw their perfect start end with a 78-64 defeat at Wisconsin on Dec. 7. They will face a Blue Demons squad (3-8) that snapped a six-game skid with a 78-48 win over Massachusetts-Lowell on Thursday. Michigan State has been dominant offensively, averaging 88.2 points per game and winning its first eight contests by an average of 44.6 points. Guard Kennedy Blair leads the attack, averaging 15.1 points and 5.4 assists. She scored 22 points in a road win at Clemson on Nov. 30 and had a near triple-double (14 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists) against Western Michigan on Nov. 16. DePaul, under longtime coach Doug Bruno, has faced a difficult non-conference schedule. Its three wins have come against Valparaiso, Grambling and UMass-Lowell. Guard Kate Novik is a key facilitator, coming off a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists in the win over UMass-Lowell. She also had 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in a close loss to Northwestern on Nov. 17. The Blue Demons will need a significant defensive effort to slow a Spartan offense that has topped 100 points three times this season. Michigan State’s lone blemish was a cold-shooting second half at Wisconsin, where it was outscored 45-28 after halftime. This is the final non-conference tune-up for DePaul before Big East play begins next week. Michigan State continues a two-game road swing before a holiday tournament in North Carolina. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.
