GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum to close nonconference play will meet Sunday when the Pittsburgh Panthers visit the Clemson Lady Tigers in a women’s basketball matchup at Bi-Lo Center. Both teams enter with 6-win records, though Pittsburgh (6-5) looks to rebound from a 44-79 road loss at Mississippi State on Dec. 4. Clemson (6-4) is coming off a stronger performance, a 78-59 home victory over Appalachian State on Dec. 7. The Panthers have struggled away from home, with their Dec. 4 defeat marking a second consecutive road loss. Their offense will need a spark after being held to 44 and 41 points in those games. A key to reigniting it will be guard Carla Viegas, who provided a bright spot in the Mississippi State loss by scoring 15 points in just 15 minutes. Over her last six games, Viegas has averaged 9.7 points. Clemson counters with dynamic guard Mia Moore, who is coming off a season-high 21 points and five assists in the win over Appalachian State. Moore has been a consistent facilitator, recording five or more assists in five of her last six contests, including an 11-assist double-double against Furman on Nov. 23. Her playmaking will be central to the Lady Tigers’ attack. The Lady Tigers have shown a potent offense at home, averaging 77.3 points in their three wins in Greenville this season. Pittsburgh’s defense, which allowed 79 points in its last outing, will be tested. This game serves as the final nonconference tune-up for both programs before Atlantic Coast Conference play resumes in January. Pittsburgh opens its ACC slate at home against Wake Forest on Jan. 1, 2026. Clemson begins its conference road schedule at Virginia the same day. Sunday’s tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.
