Preview: Pacific Tigers at Nevada Wolf Pack RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Pacific Tigers visit the Nevada Wolf Pack in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at Lawlor Events Center. Both programs enter with identical 4-6 records, though their recent paths differ. Pacific (4-5) is coming off a narrow 70-68 road loss to San Diego State on Dec. 7, a game in which the Tigers led late. Nevada (4-6) looks to rebound from a pair of decisive defeats, falling 68-45 to San Francisco on Dec. 5 and 63-42 at McNeese State on Dec. 6. The Tigers have shown resilience, winning three of their last five games. Their offense runs through junior forward Sydney Ward, who is coming off a standout performance with 17 points, four rebounds and three blocks in 33 minutes against San Diego State. Ward has scored in double figures in four of her last six contests, providing a consistent interior presence. For the Wolf Pack, generating consistent offense has been a challenge. They have failed to reach 60 points in five of their last six games. A potential spark could come from guard Maia Rosarion, who logged a season-high 27 minutes and contributed nine points and two assists in the loss to McNeese State. Her increased role may continue as Nevada searches for scoring options. Pacific’s balance was evident in its last outing, with Daria Nestorov adding 14 points and seven assists and Winner Bartholomew scoring 14 points. Nevada will rely on contributors like Ahrray Young, who scored 10 points in the team’s most recent game. This contest represents a final nonconference tune-up before both teams dive into league play. Pacific begins West Coast Conference action Jan. 2, while Nevada opens Mountain West play Dec. 31. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. PST Saturday at Lawlor Events Center.
