CHARLESTON, Ill. (Interstat) — A surging North Dakota State women’s basketball team visits a struggling Eastern Illinois squad on Thursday in a nonconference matchup at Lantz Arena. The Bison (6-2) enter on a four-game winning streak, including a dominant 90-65 victory over Montana State on Dec. 3. In that game, Karrington Asp led the way with 18 points and five assists in 26 minutes. Asp has been a consistent force, averaging 14.8 points and 5.2 rebounds over her last five contests. Eastern Illinois (1-8) looks to halt a two-game skid after falling 64-46 at Illinois State on Dec. 7. The Panthers’ lone win came at Bellarmine, 68-63, on Nov. 29. Guard Ava Stoller has been a bright spot, scoring 16 points in the loss to Illinois State and posting 21 points in the win over Bellarmine. She averages 11.4 points per game. The matchup pits one of the Summit League’s hottest teams against an Ohio Valley Conference program seeking momentum. North Dakota State has won by an average margin of 30 points during its streak, showcasing a balanced attack. Beyond Asp, Avery Koenen (16 points) and Marisa Frost (15 points) were key contributors against Montana State. Eastern Illinois, which has faced a challenging early schedule with road games against power conference foes Louisville and Michigan State, will rely on Stoller and Ella Lune, who also scored 16 points against Illinois State. Defense will be a priority for the Panthers, who have allowed 80.2 points per game this season. Following this contest, North Dakota State travels to face Pepperdine on Dec. 16. Eastern Illinois visits Butler on Dec. 14. Tipoff is set for Thursday, Dec. 11, at Lantz Arena.
