Hokies Host Struggling Blue Hose in Nonconference Finale BLACKSBURG, Va. (Interstat) — The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a conference loss when it hosts Presbyterian in a nonconference matchup Wednesday night at Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies (7-3) are coming off a 70-54 defeat to Duke on Sunday, which snapped a two-game winning streak. Virginia Tech has relied on a balanced attack, with guard Carleigh Wenzel serving as a consistent catalyst. The sophomore is averaging 14.5 points and 4.5 assists over her last six games, including a 23-point, 10-assist performance against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 15. Presbyterian (2-8) enters on a five-game skid, most recently falling 74-56 at Furman on Dec. 3. The Blue Hose have struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in any of their eight losses. Guard Ore Ogunwolere leads the team, coming off a 12-point effort against Furman. Aminata Tal added a season-high 17 points in that contest. Virginia Tech has dominated at home this season, winning five of six games in Blacksburg by an average margin of 28.2 points. Presbyterian is 0-7 on the road, with those losses coming by an average of 23.7 points. This game concludes the nonconference schedule for both teams. Virginia Tech will host East Tennessee State on Sunday before opening Atlantic Coast Conference play at Florida State on Dec. 18. Presbyterian next plays at home against Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 19 to begin Big South Conference action. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
