JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Interstat) — A surging Fairleigh Dickinson women’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits struggling Saint Peter’s in a nonconference matchup Wednesday night at the Yanitelli Center. The Knights (6-3) enter on a four-game win streak, most recently defeating Lafayette 69-61 last Thursday. Guard Kailee McDonald led the way with 23 points, continuing a strong stretch where she has averaged 14.2 points per game over her last six contests. Her backcourt mate, Ava Renninger, added 12 points and seven assists in the victory. Conversely, the Peacocks (1-7) have lost five straight, including a 66-38 home defeat to Monmouth last Sunday. Saint Peter’s has struggled offensively, failing to reach 45 points in four of those five losses. Guard De’Naya Rippey has been a consistent bright spot, scoring in double figures in five of the last six games, including a 23-point performance against Lafayette last month. The teams present a stark contrast in momentum. Fairleigh Dickinson’s current run includes double-digit victories over NJIT, Delaware State and Monmouth. Saint Peter’s lone win came against Division III Lehman on Nov. 25, and the Peacocks have faced offensive challenges against Division I competition, averaging just 46.4 points in those seven games. McDonald’s scoring prowess will be a primary focus for the Knights, while the Peacocks will rely on Rippey to generate offense. Fairleigh Dickinson’s Reese Downey, who had 11 points off the bench against Lafayette, provides additional depth. This game serves as a final nonconference tune-up for both programs before holiday breaks and the bulk of their league schedules begin in January. Fairleigh Dickinson will aim to maintain its positive trajectory, while Saint Peter’s seeks a momentum-shifting victory on its home floor. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday.
