MANHATTAN, Kan. (Interstat) — The Kansas State Wildcats will look to build on a narrow nonconference victory when they host the San Diego State Aztecs in women’s basketball on Wednesday afternoon at Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats (6-5) edged Mississippi 61-60 on Sunday, powered by a season-high 19 points from guard Jordan Speiser. The sophomore has been a key scorer, averaging 10.5 points per game and coming off her most productive outing. San Diego State (5-3) arrives after a similar tight win, defeating Pacific 70-68. The Aztecs are led by forward Kennedy Lee, who posted 14 points, five rebounds and two assists in that victory. Lee has shown high-scoring potential, erupting for 24 points against Cal State Northridge last month. Kansas State’s season has been marked by close contests, with five of its 11 games decided by five points or fewer. Alongside Speiser, guards Taryn Sides (13 points vs. Mississippi) and Tess Heal (11 points) provide backcourt scoring. The Aztecs have relied on a balanced attack. In the win over Pacific, Naomi Panganiban scored a team-high 17 points and Nala Williams added 10 points and eight rebounds alongside Lee’s effort. This matchup begins a challenging pre-holiday stretch for both teams. Kansas State visits Creighton on Sunday before opening Big 12 play later in December. San Diego State heads to Fresno State next Wednesday to begin Mountain West Conference action. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Wednesday. The game will be a final tune-up for both squads seeking momentum before their respective conference schedules intensify.
