SOUTH DAKOTA COYOTES (8-2) AT BRADLEY BRAVES (5-4) PEORIA, Ill. (Interstat) — The South Dakota Coyotes look to rebound from a rare home loss when they visit the Bradley Braves in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup Wednesday afternoon at Carver Arena. South Dakota (8-2) saw a seven-game win streak snapped with a 67-63 loss to Eastern Washington on Saturday. The Coyotes had previously navigated a challenging early schedule with notable road wins at Kansas State and Idaho State. A key to South Dakota’s strong start has been forward Elise Turrubiates, who nearly posted a double-double in the loss with 13 points and nine rebounds. Over her last five games, Turrubiates is averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 rebounds while providing consistent rim protection. Bradley (5-4) enters off an 85-57 rout of Chicago State on Sunday, a performance that showcased its offensive potential. Guard Maya Foz led the way with a season-high 19 points and five assists. Foz has been a dynamic scorer for the Braves, averaging 13.6 points per game and reaching double figures in six contests this season. The Braves have shown volatility, however, following the win with a 92-53 road loss to Nebraska last week. Bradley will need a more consistent defensive effort against a South Dakota team averaging 73.2 points per game. South Dakota’s defense, which allows just 58.7 points per game, will aim to contain Foz and force turnovers. Bradley averages 17.2 giveaways per game, a weakness the Coyotes’ experienced lineup will look to exploit. This game represents a final nonconference test for both teams before holiday breaks. South Dakota will travel to California for two games next week, while Bradley hosts Southern Illinois on Dec. 18 before hitting the road for two contests. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Wednesday. The all-time series is tied 1-1, with Bradley winning the most recent meeting in 2011.
