Michigan State Looks to Stay Perfect in Big Ten Test at Wisconsin MADISON, Wis. (Interstat) — The unbeaten and eighth-ranked Michigan State women’s basketball team faces its first Big Ten Conference test of the season on the road Sunday against Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. The Spartans (8-0) have dominated nonconference play, winning each game by an average of 43.6 points. They are coming off a 72-64 victory at Clemson on Nov. 30, where Kennedy Blair scored 22 points and Rashunda Jones added 16 points and four assists. Jones, a dynamic guard, has been a consistent catalyst, averaging 11.9 points and 4.6 assists per game while often sitting out large portions of blowouts. Wisconsin (6-3) seeks a resume-building win after dropping two of its last three games, including a 69-50 home loss to James Madison on Nov. 29. The Badgers have leaned on guard Kyrah Daniels, who leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game. She scored 18 points in the loss to James Madison. Michigan State’s offense has been prolific, scoring 90 or more points in five games. Beyond Jones, the Spartans feature balanced scoring with Blair (15.1 ppg) and Grace VanSlooten (12.4 ppg). Their defense has been equally stifling, holding opponents to 52.4 points per game on 31.2% shooting. The Badgers will need to control the tempo and limit turnovers to challenge the Spartans. Wisconsin has shown offensive capability, scoring 90 points in a win over Bowling Green, but has struggled against high-major opponents, falling to Marquette, Mississippi and James Madison. This marks the conference opener for both teams. Michigan State will look to continue its best start in recent program history, while Wisconsin aims to defend its home court and spring an early-season upset in league play. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CST tipoff Sunday.
