LAFAYETTE, La. (Interstat) â Two teams seeking momentum will meet Sunday when the Morehead State Eagles visit the Louisiana-Lafayette Raginâ Cajuns in a nonconference womenâs basketball game at the Cajundome. Morehead State (3-5) enters having split its last two contests, most recently falling 85-78 to Murray State on Wednesday. The Eagles are led by guard Anja Ekstrom, who is coming off a career-high 23-point performance in that loss. Over her last seven games, Ekstrom has averaged 10.7 points, though her production has fluctuated. She will be a focal point for an Eagles offense that has shown potency in wins but has struggled against high-major opponents. Louisiana-Lafayette (0-8) is still in search of its first victory after a difficult early schedule. The Raginâ Cajuns fell 72-47 to Texas A&M-Commerce on Tuesday, their third consecutive loss by double digits. Guard Amijah Price has been a bright spot, averaging 9.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She posted a season-high 22 points and 11 rebounds in a narrow loss to Nicholls State on Nov. 14 and led the team with 18 points in Tuesdayâs defeat. The matchup presents a critical opportunity for both sides. For the visiting Eagles, it is a chance to build a winning record before a daunting trip to Notre Dame next week. For the home-standing Raginâ Cajuns, it represents one of their final nonconference chances to break into the win column before Sun Belt Conference play begins in January. Defensive consistency will be key. Morehead State has allowed an average of 74.5 points in its losses, while Louisiana-Lafayette has been held under 65 points in all but one game this season. The Eaglesâ ability to contain Price and capitalize on turnovers could prove decisive. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST Sunday. Morehead State continues its road swing at Notre Dame on Dec. 11. Louisiana-Lafayetteâs next game is at Texas State on Dec. 17.
