LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — The Louisville women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a narrow loss to a top opponent when it hosts New Hampshire on Sunday at KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals (7-3) are coming off a hard-fought 79-77 defeat to South Carolina on Thursday. Reyna Scott led Louisville with 15 points and four assists in that contest, part of a consistent season for the guard. Scott has scored in double figures in seven games, including a 13-point, four-rebound, four-assist performance in just 17 minutes in a 100-37 rout of Bellarmine on Nov. 30. Louisville’s offense has been potent, averaging 78.2 points per game and eclipsing 88 points in four of its wins. Its three losses have come against ranked opponents South Carolina, Kentucky and Connecticut. New Hampshire (3-6) arrives after snapping a four-game skid with a 65-61 home victory over Merrimack on Friday. The Wildcats are led by standout guard Eva DeChent, who poured in 26 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished three assists in that win. DeChent has been a volume scorer, averaging 18.6 points per game and tallying 26 or more points three times this season, including a 31-point outing at Colgate on Nov. 10. The Wildcats have struggled on the road, however, going 0-5 away from Durham. Their defense has allowed 68.2 points per game overall. This is the first-ever meeting between the programs. For New Hampshire, it represents a final major non-conference test before America East play begins in January. For Louisville, it is a chance to regain momentum before a challenging stretch that includes a road game at North Carolina next weekend. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST Sunday. Louisville will host Ball State on Wednesday, while New Hampshire’s next game is at Central Connecticut on Dec. 17.
