LEXINGTON, Ky. (Interstat) — The Kentucky Wildcats, riding high with a 9-1 record, will look to continue their dominant non-conference play when they host the Central Michigan Chippewas at Rupp Arena on Sunday. Kentucky, led by star forward Clara Strack, is coming off a 64-48 road win at Miami (Fla.) on Wednesday. Strack, a consistent double-double threat, nearly achieved one with 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists in that victory. She has been a force all season, posting six double-doubles in nine games, including a 27-point, 12-rebound performance in the season opener at Buffalo. The Wildcats’ lone loss was a narrow 74-66 defeat at Maryland on Nov. 26. Their defense has been stifling, holding opponents to an average of 48.7 points over their last three contests. Central Michigan (5-3) enters following a tough 82-40 loss at Michigan on Wednesday. The Chippewas have faced a challenging early schedule, with their other losses coming against Notre Dame and Georgia Southern. Guard Lilah Turnbull, who scored six points with three assists in 28 minutes against Michigan, will be a key player for CMU. The team’s most notable win was a 57-55 victory over Purdue on Nov. 30. This matchup marks the first meeting between the programs. For Central Michigan, it represents a final major test before Mid-American Conference play begins later this month. For Kentucky, it is a tune-up before a highly anticipated Southeastern Conference opener at LSU on Jan. 1. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon. Kentucky will travel to Belmont next Sunday, while Central Michigan’s next game is at Valparaiso on Dec. 17.
