Preview: Texas Hosts Prairie View in Nonconference Finale AUSTIN, Texas (Interstat) — The top-ranked and undefeated Texas women’s basketball team concludes its nonconference home schedule Sunday against in-state foe Prairie View A&M at the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns (9-0), riding a dominant start to the season, face the Prairie View Lady Panthers (2-5) in a matchup of teams at opposite ends of the competitive spectrum. Texas, which moved to in the latest AP Top 25 poll, has won every game by at least 15 points, including ranked victories over then-UCLA (76-65) and then-South Carolina (66-64). Prairie View seeks a program-defining upset but enters on a two-game skid, including a 93-52 loss at Texas State on Nov. 30. The Lady Panthers are 0-5 against Division I opponents this season, with their wins coming against lower-division Huston-Tillotson and Texas College. A key matchup will feature each team’s leading scorer. Texas is powered by guard Jordan Lee, who is averaging 15.2 points per game. Lee scored 22 points in a full 40-minute effort in Thursday’s 79-64 win over North Carolina and hit the game-winning shot in the victory at South Carolina. For Prairie View, guard CJ Wilson has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 17.3 points per game. She scored 24 points in the loss to Texas State and has been in double figures in every game this season. The Longhorns have dominated with depth and defense, averaging 88.2 points while allowing just 55.7 per game. Beyond Lee, Madison Booker (14.6 ppg) and Kyla Oldacre provide significant offensive firepower. Texas holds a 10-0 all-time series advantage over Prairie View, with the average margin of victory at 52.3 points. Their last meeting was a 111-45 Longhorns win on Nov. 16, 2024. Following this game, Texas visits Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday before a highly anticipated showdown with Baylor on Dec. 14 in Fort Worth. Prairie View continues a difficult road stretch at UTSA on Dec. 13. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CST Sunday at the Erwin Center.
