ST. LOUIS (Interstat) ā Two teams seeking momentum will meet Sunday when the Saint Louis Billikens host the Evansville Purple Aces in a nonconference womenās basketball game at Chaifetz Arena. Both programs enter with sub-.500 records. Evansville is 2-6, while Saint Louis sits at 3-6. The Billikens are coming off a 76-70 home victory over Saint Bonaventure on Wednesday, their second win in three games. Evansville looks to rebound from a 49-91 road loss to Purdue that same day. A key matchup will feature two standout guards. Evansvilleās Camryn Runner has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 15.1 points per game. She is coming off a 17-point performance at Purdue and has scored in double figures in six of her last seven contests, including a 25-point, 7-assist effort in a win over IU Indy on Nov. 20. She will be countered by Saint Louisās Jahda Denis, who is fresh off a season-high 24 points in the win over Saint Bonaventure. Denis has provided a recent scoring spark for the Billikens, averaging 18.3 points over her last three games. Evansvilleās struggles have been pronounced on the road, where they are 0-5 this season, including losses by an average of 33.2 points in their last three away games. The Purple Aces will need to find more offensive support for Runner; only one other player scored more than eight points in the loss to Purdue. Saint Louis has shown resilience at home, winning two of its last three at Chaifetz Arena. Beyond Denis, Alexia Nelson (17 points vs. Saint Bonaventure) provides additional scoring. This game represents a final nonconference tune-up before both teams dive deeper into their schedules. Evansville begins Missouri Valley Conference play on Jan. 3, while Saint Louis starts Atlantic 10 action on Dec. 31. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon.
