North Alabama (4-3) looks to rebound from a narrow 50-48 home loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday. The Lions have shown resilience in close games, with a season-opening win over Tennessee-Martin and the recent defeat highlighting their competitive edge. Guard Alyssa Clutter, coming off an 11-point performance in that loss, has been a steady contributor. She averaged 6.6 points over her last five games and will be a key facilitator for the Lions’ offense. Samford (4-7) aims to halt a three-game skid, most recently an 82-60 road loss at Tennessee Tech on Thursday. The Bulldogs’ schedule has been arduous, featuring road games against Power Five opponents like Nebraska, Florida, Alabama and Minnesota. Guard Sierra Godbolt has provided a spark, scoring in double figures in two of the last three games, including 12 points and five rebounds against Tennessee Tech. The matchup presents a contrast in trajectories. North Alabama has stayed near .500 with a more favorable early slate, while Samford has battled through a challenging non-conference gauntlet. The Bulldogs will rely on home court to jumpstart their season, having won both home games this season by an average of 38.5 points. For the Lions, containing Godbolt and finding consistent scoring beyond Clutter will be critical. For Samford, leveraging its tough schedule experience and improving offensive output after being held under 65 points in six consecutive losses is paramount. Sunday’s contest is the final non-conference tune-up for Samford before a visit to South Carolina Upstate on Dec. 14. North Alabama continues its road swing at South Alabama on the same date.
