FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Interstat) — Horizon League women’s basketball play resumes Sunday when the Fort Wayne Mastodons host the Wright State Raiders at Gates Sports Center. Both teams enter the contest with 5-5 overall records, seeking momentum early in the conference schedule. The matchup features two of the league’s top performers in Wright State’s Claire Henson and Fort Wayne’s Jordan Reid. Henson, a dynamic guard for the Raiders, is averaging 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. She is coming off a 17-point performance in a 61-57 win over Oakland on Wednesday and has scored in double figures in seven of her last eight games, including a 19-point, 9-rebound effort in a narrow overtime loss at Florida Atlantic. Reid, a key guard for the Mastodons, averages 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. She led Fort Wayne with 21 points and four assists in a 74-68 road victory at IU Indy on Wednesday. Reid has been a consistent scorer, topping 20 points in three games this season, including a 23-point outing in a win over Southern Illinois. Wright State has shown resilience, winning two of its last three games, including the comeback victory over Oakland. Fort Wayne has also won two of its last three, with its only recent loss a narrow 56-53 defeat at Bowling Green. The Raiders’ offense will look to Henson, Olivia Brown and Breezie Williams, who combined for 34 points in the midweek win. Fort Wayne counters with Reid and Alana Nelson, who scored 23 points against IU Indy. Historically, Fort Wayne holds a 15-10 advantage in the series, but the teams split their two meetings last season, each winning on their home court. Sunday’s game tips off at 2 p.m. EST. Fort Wayne remains home to host Milwaukee on Wednesday, while Wright State travels to face Canisius next Friday.
