Preview
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (Interstat) β A surging Robert Morris womenβs basketball team looks to continue its strong start when it visits struggling Northern Kentucky in a Horizon League matchup Sunday at Regents Hall. The Colonials (5-2) enter with momentum from a 73-71 road win at Mercyhurst on Wednesday. Robert Morris has won three of its last four, with the only losses coming on the road to Eastern Michigan and Pittsburgh of the ACC. Northern Kentucky (3-7) seeks to halt a two-game skid after falling 70-60 to Green Bay at home Thursday. The Norse have lost seven of their last nine, though they secured an overtime victory over Southern Indiana on Nov. 30. A key matchup will feature Robert Morris forward Myriam Traore against Norse guard Mya Meredith. Traore is coming off a near double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds against Mercyhurst, part of a stretch where she has scored in double figures in three of her last five games. Meredith has been a consistent scorer for NKU, reaching double figures in five of her last seven contests, including an 18-point performance at Ball State. Robert Morris has shown balanced scoring. In the win over Mercyhurst, Layke Fields poured in 24 points and Bailey Kuhns added 10 points and seven rebounds. Northern Kentucky will rely on Meredith and Maddie Moody, who scored 11 points apiece against Green Bay. This game opens the Horizon League schedule for both teams. They will meet again in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 10. Following this contest, Robert Morris hosts California on Dec. 13. Northern Kentucky faces a tough road test at No.
