MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Maryland Terrapins put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they visit the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a Big Ten women’s basketball matchup at Williams Arena. Maryland (10-0) has dominated its non-conference slate, winning by an average margin of 33.2 points. Their most recent outing was a 92-44 rout of Mount Saint Mary’s on Wednesday. The Terrapins’ high-powered offense, averaging 85.8 points per game, has been fueled by efficient scoring and depth. A key player for Maryland is guard Oluchi Okananwa, who is coming off a 17-point performance in just 14 minutes against Mount Saint Mary’s. Over her last five games, Okananwa has shown explosive scoring ability, including a 23-point outing against George Mason on Nov. 23. Minnesota (6-2) aims to hand the Terrapins their first loss and secure a signature conference win. The Golden Gophers have rebounded from a two-game skid in late November with consecutive victories, including a 77-40 win over Samford on Monday. Sophomore guard Tori McKinney has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in three of the last four games, including 13 points and four assists against Samford.
