Preview: Georgia State Panthers at Miami (FL) Hurricanes CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Hurricanes look to snap a two-game skid when they host the Georgia State Panthers in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday at Watsco Center. Miami (5-3) enters off consecutive home losses to Oklahoma State (87-84) and Kentucky (64-48). The Hurricanes’ strength has been in the post, anchored by graduate student Ra Shaya Kyle. The 6-foot-6 center is averaging a double-double over her last three games, including a 26-point, 14-rebound performance in a win at George Washington on Nov. 28. She posted 11 points and 10 rebounds against Kentucky. Georgia State (4-4) seeks to rebound from a 70-51 home loss to Central Arkansas on Nov. 26. The Panthers have shown resilience, winning close games against Samford and Stony Brook during a multi-team event in late November. Guard Cheyenne Holloman, who scored nine points with six rebounds in the loss to Central Arkansas, is a key facilitator for the Panthers. The Hurricanes hold a distinct size advantage with Kyle and have played a tougher schedule, including a narrow three-point loss at Iowa. Miami’s defense will aim to pressure a Georgia State team that committed 22 turnovers in its last outing. This is the first meeting between the programs. Following this game, Miami begins Atlantic Coast Conference play at home against North Carolina State on Dec. 14. Georgia State’s next game is also Dec. 14, at home against Kennesaw State before opening Sun Belt Conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
