Preview: Notre Dame at Florida State in ACC Women’s Basketball TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Notre Dame women’s basketball team looks to rebound from its first loss in nearly a month when it visits Florida State in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup Sunday at Donald L. Tucker Center. The Fighting Irish (5-2) saw a four-game win streak snapped with a 62-69 road loss at Mississippi on Thursday. Star guard Hannah Hidalgo led Notre Dame with 28 points in the defeat, continuing a dominant stretch. Over her last five games, Hidalgo is averaging 30.2 points, including a 44-point outburst against Akron on Nov. 12. Florida State (4-6) has struggled against a tough schedule, dropping its last two games by an average of 24.5 points, including an 80-60 home loss to Georgia on Wednesday. Guard Solè Williams has been a consistent bright spot, scoring in double figures in every game this season and averaging 16.7 points over her last three contests. Notre Dame’s offense runs through Hidalgo, but balance emerged during its win streak. Vanessa de Jesus added seven points and six assists against Mississippi. The Seminoles will counter with Williams and forward Allie Kubek, who had 11 points against Georgia. The Seminoles have faced a gauntlet of ranked opponents, including then-Connecticut and Oklahoma, but have yet to secure a signature win. Protecting home court against a ranked ACC foe like Notre Dame would provide a crucial boost before conference play intensifies in January. This game opens the ACC schedule for both teams. Notre Dame holds a historical edge in the series, but the Fighting Irish are 1-2 away from home this season. Florida State is 3-2 at the Tucker Center. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon. Notre Dame returns home to face Morehead State on Dec. 11. Florida State hosts the College of Charleston on Dec. 14.
