TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) ā The undefeated and No. 7-ranked Alabama womenās basketball team puts its perfect record on the line Sunday when it hosts Louisiana-Monroe at Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide (9-0) have dominated their early schedule, winning by an average margin of 26.2 points. Their most recent victory was a 72-48 rout of Clemson on Thursday, powered by 21 points from sophomore forward Essence Cody. Cody has been a force, averaging 15.3 points and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting over 60% from the field in her last five contests. Alabamaās high-powered offense, which averages 76.2 points per game, will test a Warhawks squad looking to rebound from a road loss. Louisiana-Monroe (5-2) fell 66-54 at Mississippi State on Nov. 30. The Warhawks have shown resilience, however, with their only other loss coming at Sam Houston. Louisiana-Monroe will rely on forward Marcavia Shavers, who leads the team in rebounding. She grabbed 12 boards to go with four assists in the loss at Mississippi State. Guard Jazmine Jackson, who scored a team-high 15 points in that game, provides backcourt scoring. The matchup inside between Alabamaās Cody and Louisiana-Monroeās Shavers will be pivotal. The Crimson Tideās defense has held opponents to just 50.0 points per game and 33.2% shooting from the field. This contest begins a challenging stretch for the Warhawks, who visit Indiana on Dec. 11. For Alabama, it is the final tune-up before a Dec. 21 showdown with Troy and the daunting start of Southeastern Conference play at top-ranked South Carolina on Jan. 1. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CST Sunday. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network+.
