Bulldogs, Ospreys Seek Momentum in Nonconference Clash ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to steady their seasons will meet Saturday when the UNC Asheville women host North Florida at Kimmel Arena. Both the Bulldogs and Ospreys enter with 3-5 records. UNC Asheville is coming off a 64-58 overtime victory against South Carolina State on Wednesday. Journee McDaniel led the way with a near triple-double of 7 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 blocks. North Florida aims to rebound from a 70-44 road loss at Georgia Southern on Thursday. Elle Blatchford scored 10 points in that defeat, while Alexa Washington dished 4 assists. The Ospreys have struggled away from home, losing all four road games this season by an average of 30.5 points. Their victories have come at home against Campbell, Bethune-Cookman and Trinity Baptist. UNC Asheville has faced similar inconsistency, with its other wins coming against Warren Wilson and Western Carolina. The Bulldogs’ defense, which forced overtime with a late stop against S.C. State, will test North Florida’s offense. The game is the final nonconference home contest for UNC Asheville before it begins Big South play in January. North Florida continues its road swing before returning home Dec. 16 against Coastal Georgia. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
