LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Interstat) — A surging Central Arkansas women’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits crosstown foe Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday at Jack Stephens Center. The Bears (6-2) enter on a five-game winning streak, including a dominant 74-32 victory over Hendrix on Monday. Their last loss came in overtime at Arkansas on Nov. 10. The Trojans (2-5), meanwhile, have struggled against a tough schedule, dropping their last game 62-55 to Texas-Arlington on Tuesday. Central Arkansas has been fueled by balanced scoring and the versatile play of guard Bree Stephens. Over the last five games, Stephens has averaged 12.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 blocks per contest. She posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds in a win at Georgia State on Nov. 26. Arkansas-Little Rock will rely on the scoring punch of guard Jordan Holman, who has been a bright spot during the team’s challenging start. Holman is averaging 18.6 points per game and is coming off a 23-point performance against Texas-Arlington. She scored 21 points in a road loss at Arizona State on Nov. 28. The Bears’ streak includes convincing wins over Samford, Stony Brook and Arkansas State, with an average margin of victory of 24.2 points during the run. The Trojans’ two victories came against San Diego and non-Division I Central Baptist. Their losses include setbacks to Power Five opponents Arizona State and Arkansas. This in-city matchup offers contrasting trajectories early in the season. Central Arkansas seeks to maintain its momentum before a road game at Grambling on Dec. 13. Arkansas-Little Rock aims to build confidence before a daunting trip to Oklahoma on Dec. 11. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CST on Saturday.
