FORT WORTH, Texas (Interstat) — Two of the nation’s remaining undefeated women’s basketball teams will put perfect records on the line Saturday when TCU hosts UTEP at Dickies Arena. The Lady Frogs (9-0) and Miners (7-0) are among just 17 unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I. This nonconference clash presents a major test for both squads before league play begins. TCU, receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll, has dominated its schedule with an average margin of victory of 36.2 points. Its most impressive win came on the road against then-North Carolina State on Nov. 16. The Lady Frogs’ offense is powered by guard Donovyn Hunter, who is averaging 14.4 points and 3.4 assists per game. She scored 21 points with five assists in Wednesday’s 84-56 win over Incarnate Word. UTEP, under first-year coach Keitha Adams in her return to the program, has engineered a strong start with a more defensive-minded approach. The Miners are allowing just 57.9 points per game. Their streak includes a 64-60 overtime win over Tennessee-Martin. Guard Ivane Tensaie has been pivotal, scoring 15 or more points in four of the last five games, including a 26-point performance against Denver on Nov. 29. This marks the first meeting between the programs since 2011. TCU has won all five previous matchups. The game tips off at 2 p.m. CST Saturday. TCU will look to use its high-powered offense to extend its streak, while UTEP aims to continue its defensive disruption and notch a signature road victory. The winner will emerge as one of the nation’s most surprising unbeatens as the calendar nears conference play.
