(Interstat) — A surging South Dakota State women’s basketball team aims to continue its winning ways against a struggling Northern Arizona squad when the teams meet at Walkup Skydome on Saturday. The Jackrabbits (7-2) enter on a two-game win streak following an 87-56 rout of Weber State on Wednesday. In contrast, the Lumberjacks (1-8) seek to halt a seven-game slide, most recently a 74-66 loss at Saint Thomas (Minn.) on Dec. 3. The matchup features a stark contrast in momentum. South Dakota State has scored 80 or more points in five of its victories, showcasing a potent offense. Northern Arizona has allowed an average of 80.1 points per game during its losing streak, presenting a significant challenge against the Jackrabbits’ attack. A key player to watch is South Dakota State forward Brooklyn Meyer, who is coming off a 19-point performance in 20 minutes against Weber State. Over her last seven games, Meyer has averaged 19.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists, demonstrating consistent all-around production. For Northern Arizona, guard Layla Davis provides a spark, coming off a season-high 21 points and six rebounds in the loss to Saint Thomas. Her scoring will be crucial for a Lumberjacks offense that has struggled for consistency.
