BOZEMAN, Mont. (Interstat) — The struggling North Dakota women’s basketball team seeks a road upset when it faces a Montana State squad looking to rebound at home on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Fighting Hawks (1-8) travel to Brick Breeden Fieldhouse mired in a four-game losing streak, most recently a lopsided 86-56 home defeat to Montana on Wednesday. Mackenzie Hughes (15 points) and Skyler Volmer (12 points) provided sparks in the loss. Montana State (5-2) saw its three-game win streak snapped in a 90-65 road loss to North Dakota State the same night. Despite the defeat, the Bobcats have been strong at home, winning all three of their games in Bozeman this season by an average of 30 points. Taylee Chirrick (15 points, 5 assists) and Isobel Bunyan (22 points) have been consistent leaders. North Dakota’s sole win came against Wyoming on Nov. 21. The Fighting Hawks have struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in seven of nine games. The Bobcats, who boast a notable road win over Colorado, will look to reestablish their momentum before a challenging upcoming stretch that includes games at Oregon and Oregon State. Tipoff is set for Saturday at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Montana State visits Oregon on Dec. 14, while North Dakota returns home to face Bismarck State on Dec. 9.
