HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Interstat) — The Marshall women’s basketball team looks to continue its strong start when it hosts Kent State on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Cam Henderson Center. The Thundering Herd (6-3) enter with a winning record, including a 4-1 mark at home. They are coming off a 75-53 road victory over Coppin State on Wednesday, led by Timaya Lewis-Eutsey’s 19 points and five assists. Meredith Maier added 17 points. The visiting Golden Flashes (4-5) seek to end a two-game skid, most recently a 74-54 home loss to Arkansas State on Nov. 30. Tatiana Thomas scored 17 points in that defeat. Kent State has struggled on the road this season, with all five losses coming away from home. Marshall’s defense has been a strength, holding opponents to an average of 54 points in its victories. Kent State averages 64.2 points per game but has been held under 55 points in three of its losses. This non-conference matchup is the final tune-up for Marshall before Sun Belt play begins in January. Kent State will open Mid-American Conference action later in December. Following this game, Marshall hosts Davis & Elkins on Dec. 11. Kent State’s next outing is at home against Davis & Elkins on Dec. 15.
