Preview: Saint Thomas (Minn.) at Montana MISSOULA, Mont. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Saint Thomas Tommies visit the Montana Lady Griz in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Dahlberg Arena. Both programs enter with sub-.500 records. Saint Thomas is 3-6 overall, while Montana sits at 2-5. Each is coming off a decisive victory in its last outing, however, providing a spark ahead of the matchup. The Tommies snapped a two-game skid with a 74-66 home win over Northern Arizona on Wednesday. Forward Alyssa Sand led the way with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Sand has been a consistent force, averaging 14.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season. She posted a 22-point performance against UC Irvine on Nov. 22 and a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double against Northern Arizona. Montana dominated North Dakota on the road Wednesday, winning 86-56. Guard Jocelyn Land exploded for a season-high 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 6 of 9 from 3-point range, in just 27 minutes. Land’s scoring has been volatile; she was held to four points in a loss to Oregon on Nov. 8 but also dropped 24 points against South Dakota State on Nov. 15. The game will feature a contrast in recent schedules. Saint Thomas has played eight of its first nine games at home in St. Paul, Minnesota. This contest marks the start of a challenging stretch where the Tommies will play five of their next seven games away from home. Montana, conversely, is in the midst of a heavy road schedule. This game is one of only two home contests for the Lady Griz between Nov. 29 and Jan. 8. For Saint Thomas, containing Land’s perimeter shooting will be a priority after her recent outburst. Montana must find an answer for Sand’s interior presence on both ends of the floor. Support scoring will also be critical; Tommies guard Faith Feuerbach added 22 points and six assists in the win over Northern Arizona, while Montana’s Rae Ehrman (14 points) and Mack Konig (12 points) provided key support against North Dakota. Tipoff is set for Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025. Following this game, Montana embarks on a three-game road trip through Texas, facing Houston, Abilene Christian and Tarleton State. Saint Thomas returns home to face Crown College on Dec. 10.
