Preview: Brown Bears at George Washington Revolutionaries WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Two teams trending in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Brown Bears visit the George Washington Revolutionaries in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at the Charles E. Smith Center. Brown (6-3) arrives having won five of its last six games, including a commanding 74-46 road victory at Stonehill on Wednesday. The Bears’ offense has found a consistent spark in junior guard Grace Arnolie, who is coming off a career-high 27-point performance. Over her last five games, Arnolie is averaging 17.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists, showcasing a versatile scoring and playmaking ability that will be central to Brown’s game plan. “We’re building momentum through sharing the ball and getting stops,” Brown head coach Sarah Behn said. “Grace has been a leader for us on both ends, but it’s a collective effort.” The Revolutionaries (4-5), meanwhile, have stabilized after a tough start, winning two straight. They earned a gritty 54-42 home win over Dayton on Wednesday, led by 19 points from sophomore guard Gabby Reynolds. Reynolds has been a bright spot, averaging 16.6 points over her last three contests, including a 27-point effort in an overtime loss to Miami (FL) on Nov. 28. George Washington’s defense, which held Dayton to 25% shooting, will be tested by Brown’s balanced attack. “Our identity is forming on the defensive end,” said George Washington coach Caroline McCombs. “We need to carry that intensity forward and execute against a very disciplined Brown team.” The Bears have been strong on the road this season at 4-2, while the Revolutionaries are 3-2 at home. Brown’s recent success has been fueled by efficient offense, scoring 68 points or more in four of their six wins. George Washington will counter with a defense that has allowed an average of just 48 points during its two-game win streak. History slightly favors the Revolutionaries, who hold a 3-2 all-time series lead. The teams last met in 2019, a 69-59 George Washington victory. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST Saturday. Brown travels to Merrimack next on Dec. 9, while George Washington visits Delaware on Dec. 10.
