JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles visit the East Tennessee State Lady Buccaneers in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup Saturday at ETSU Athletic Center. Southern Indiana (4-2) looks to rebound from a narrow overtime road loss, falling 77-71 at Northern Kentucky last Sunday. Forward Chloe Gannon led the Screaming Eagles with 21 points and four blocks in that contest, while guard Ali Saunders added 12 points and seven assists. The Eagles’ two losses this season have come by a combined nine points. East Tennessee State (3-6) snapped a two-game skid with a 60-54 road win at Eastern Illinois last Sunday. Daniela López powered the Lady Buccaneers with 22 points and nine rebounds in the victory. ETSU’s wins have come against Eastern Illinois, Bellarmine and Claflin, but they have struggled against power-conference opponents, including lopsided losses to Louisville and Tennessee. The game marks the first meeting between the programs. Southern Indiana, which has won its two true road games this season by an average of 13.5 points, will rely on its defensive pressure, having held three opponents under 55 points. The Lady Buccaneers will seek to protect their home court, where they are 2-2 this season, and build momentum before a tough upcoming stretch that includes a visit to Virginia Tech.
