BALTIMORE (Interstat) — Two teams seeking a positive turnaround will meet Saturday when the Sacred Heart Pioneers visit the Coppin State Eagles in a nonconference women’s basketball game. The Pioneers (2-5) arrive after a narrow 60-57 home loss to Albany on Wednesday. Nalyce Dudley led Sacred Heart with 19 points in that contest, while Amelia Wood added 14 points, six rebounds and three assists. The Eagles (1-8) are looking to rebound from a 75-53 defeat to Marshall on the same night. Skylar Barnes scored 14 points for Coppin State in the loss. Both teams have faced challenging early schedules. Sacred Heart’s two victories came against Mercy and Central Connecticut, but it includes a 99-34 loss at then-Iowa State. Coppin State’s lone win was a 33-point rout of Division II Lincoln on Nov. 6. The Eagles have since lost seven straight, including games against ranked opponents Oklahoma and Tennessee. Saturday’s matchup at the Coppin State Physical Education Complex represents a critical opportunity for either team to build momentum before continuing their difficult slates. The Pioneers will look to their top scorers from the midweek game, while the Eagles aim to leverage home court to snap their skid. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST.
